Restaurants and grocery stores are slowly taking note of the popularity in veganism and vegetarianism. More meal items are popping up on the menu. Although vegetarianism is still not nearly as popular in African-American culture as it may be in others, there are some celebrities who are quietly (and loudly) living the lifestyle.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has recently named its 2014 winners for the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities in 2014, and the winners are actors Jared Leto and Ellen Page.
However, there were some African-American celebrity nominees, including athletic, political, musical and acting categories. PETA's choices range from age 20 to age 80. Check out the photo gallery* to see who was under consideration.
Jim Morris was one of the nominees but a fair-use photograph is currently not available.
