Affivadits indicate Sheryl Crow knew of Lance Armstrong's doping

Lance Armstrong confessed to Oprah Winfrey on the OWN network last week, but though he mentioned names and details, there was one person not mentioned: ex-fiancee Sheryl Crow. Still, the question about just how much the singer knew of Armstrong's doping habits may have been answered in a report issued on Monday.

The report said that Crow was mentioned twice in affidavits submitted to the United States Anti-Doping Association (USADA). There has been no report about Crow's own testimony, although it is known that she was interviewed during the federal investigation into Armstrong’s doping activity.

Armstrong’s former U.S. Postal Service teammate Frankie Andreu's said the following in his affidavit, recounting a time when Armstrong called him to his hotel room to convince him to convince his [Andreu's] wife Betsy to sign a statement retracting her claim that Armstrong told doctors treating him for cancer that he’d taken steroids, human growth hormone, cortisone and EPO,

His girlfriend at the time, Sheryl Crow, was in the room and I felt uncomfortable talking about this in front of her so I did not say much.

Andreu's wife, Betsy, added in her affidavit that:

Lance’s then girlfriend, Sheryl Crow, was in the room and Frankie did not not want to discuss this in front of her.

For herself, Crow has not said anything about Armstrong and doping. In an interview with ET that airs Tuesday, Crow said only:

I think that honesty is always the best bet and that the truth will set you free. It must be really hard walk around knowing you are not telling the truth about something. So I always contend that the truth is the best way to go.

Crow and Armstrong dated from 2003 to 2006; they didn’t stay in touch with each other after their split.
