Lately, this writer has been into eating more raw and vegan for better health. No plans on going all vegan or all raw – still omnivorous – but Simply Raw can change the minds of any carnivore, omnivore, or junk food junkie.
Delicious and nutrient-rich, Simply Raw provides a simple menu of entrees, salads, smoothies and desserts – all raw and vegan.
The nachos rival any found in a Mexican restaurant. When the entrée came out, the server apologized that the pico de gallo was still being made, and assured that it was coming shortly.
To make up for the late pico de gallo, and to this writer’s delight, she delivered the entrée with a double serving of fresh guacamole. The pico de gallo came soon enough, and it had just the right mix of tang, tomatoes, and bite.
The walnut “taco meat,” seasoned with traditional Mexican spices, has the flavor and texture of ground meat.
Instead of corn tortilla chips, the nachos (also raw) are made with flax seeds, and tasted better than tortilla chips. The flax seeds are finely ground so that they have that crunchy chip/cracker texture.
Instead of sour cream, cashew cream is drizzled all over the dish, and it has the same creamy tartness as its dairy counterpart.
Simply Raw also offers a selection of coffees and teas. Upon request, they can be served nut milk (made onsite daily) and raw honey or raw agave. The teas come in a French press with loose leaves. The chamomile was soothing and subtle. The nut milk on the side was so fresh and creamy that after the tea is finished, a patron will want to drink it plain.
