A simply beautiful aspect of Adventure Time is how they weave real issues into the show. Each character, no matter how implausible, has a real, relatable personality. Everyone from Finn to Lumpy Space Princess is extremely well defined. Even the smallest character has a role in this land of Ooo, and it is amazing seeing them all interact.
In this episode, Jake is faced with a real-life annoyance: lack of time. He wants to spend more time with his girlfriend (Lady Rainicorn), and also more time with Finn. He mopes around for a while before thinking of a solution, which as always is done in a hysterical manner.
Jake is always animated extremely well, but in this episode in particular felt as if they were border lining perfection. From the smallest event (the leaf inconspicuously placed near the fork of Jake’s legs) to the hilarious (Jake using his arms when he speaks speak, and slowly losing control of his bike).
Everything dealing with Lady Rainicorn is icing on the cake. It’s amazing hearing her in English; it would be very enjoyable to understand her character all the time, but alas, she speaks Korean. Seeing her and Jake interact is entertaining, as well as Jake’s slow breakdown, and eventual maniacal laugh. The ending is exactly as silly and moral-less as you would expect, as the characters grin and look directly at the camera. Predictable, yet perfect, all at the same time.
