Hopefully these "sign up for adventure" articles are inspiring you to plan ahead for spring and summer hiking.  There are so many hiking adventures waiting to be found.

If you are willing to pay some big bucks, you can find some guided adventures:

Outward Bound:   Not just backpacking trips.  These courses are meant to teach, not just guide.  Their Colorado Rockies Backpacking trip runs from  $1395 to $2595 (from 8 days length to 14 days).

REI Adventures: Offers a gamut of trips.  One of their hiking adventures is the Superstition Mountains Backpacking trip $575 for 4 days, most meals included.  Trip will be held several times throughout 2010.  Jan 28-31; Feb 18-21; Mar 4-7; and Mar 18-21.  You are responsible for getting yourself to the Tempe, AZ REI store where the trip starts and then getting yourself back home.  Plus you have to find a place to stay on day 1 of the trip.  Still, not a bad price!

Timberline Adventures: Offers Cycling and hiking guided tours.  $1,995 includes all lodging, meals, park entrance fees, shuttles, and guide for a trip to explore Bryce and Zion Canyons in Utah.  Trip offered Jun 6-11 and Oct 3-8.

Country Walkers: A more upscale version of hiking for the traveler weary of tents and sleeping on the ground.  Country Walkers offers cushy guided adventures.  For example, they also have a Bryce and Zion Canyon excursion.  You'll walk about 2 to 8 miles a day, end up eating most of your meals at cafes or restaurants with a gourmet flair, sleep in soft beds and even have an evening of hot tubs if you want.  All for $2,598.  And if you are going as a single, there is an extra cost of $550.  Definitely more expensive, but it all depends on what you are looking for.

Still haven't found anything to tempt you yet?  Soon I'll share with you other ways to find adventures that aren't quite so expensive, that involve some giving back of your time.  It's never too soon to start planning your outdoor adventure for 2010!
