Get ready for the largest public expo for outdoor action sports in Utah this weekend at the South Towne Exposition Center on May 9-10, 2014. The Adventure and Gear Expo will present outdoor gear for you to browse over, test out some of the goods, and adventure resources will be on-hand to discuss and give you some advice on how you can get involved in the outdoors or how to further enhance your experience in the outdoors.
The Adventure and Gear Expo is all about local first. Most of the exhibiting retailers and manufacturers are headquartered in Utah. And lucky for Utah locals, we have some of the best outdoor gear companies that offer some of the most top quality gear there is out there. Some great non-profit organizations that help preserve the wilderness, keep the trails maintained, and have a hand in keeping climbing access open to climbers will be there to help get you involved or educate you on what it takes to maintain these beautiful areas that we get to enjoy and venture to throughout the year.
Activities participants get to take part of include: The Adventure Theater with Teton Gravity Research; advanced climbing instruction with Black Diamond and Momentum; the mountain bike test track with Alpine Trails; kids bike races with Strider Balance Bikes; slackline demo area with Gibbon Slacklines; indoor rappelling with Sky High Adventures and so much more.
Exhibitors such as Black Diamond, Kirkham’s Outdoor, Salt Lake Climber’s Alliance, Momentum Climbing, Jaybird, Cotopaxi, Jerks Bike Shop, Corner Canyon Trail Foundation, Cloud 9, and Tour of Utah will be there among several others.
Olympic Silver Medalist Noelle Pikus-Pace will headline on Friday and Saturday, meeting and signing autographs with attendees. Other guest speakers include Greg Paul, Utah mountaineer, all-around adventurer, and co-founder of Momentum Climbing Gym; Utah adventurers Greg Miller, Daniel Burton and Dave Roskelley; endurance coaches Laura Wheatley and Melanie Marshall; and outdoor entrepreneur and CEO of Cotopaxi, Davis Smith.
