Between the Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays, the Christmas parties and church choir musicals, many Christians find it difficult to focus on the object of the Christmas: Jesus Christ. Even our calendars are more and more reflecting a secularization of the American culture. For example, what we used to call "Christmas Break" is now "Winter Break." What we used to call "Easter Break" is now called "Spring Break." Are there any good resources available which can redirect our hearts to the object of our faith and the subject of the true Advent Story? Fortunately, yes! In order to cut down on the clutter of the season, here are TWO excellent Advent resources to keep your spiritual life focused on the central Person and Truth of the season. The first is an advent guide you can find at the Desiring God website. The second is an excellent blog by Pastor Perling called Gleanings, which features daily advent devotionals. Please pass this information on to your busy friends and relatives so they also be ecouraged to find their hope and rest in the Savior during Christmas this year.
