Dr. Charles Passler, the nutritionist for Victoria's Secret supermodel Adriana Lima, is sold on the health benefits of the Paleo diet and recommends it to anyone seeking fast weight loss and optimal health.
The Paleo diet, which was the most popular diet of 2013, emphasizes high-quality animal proteins, fats, vegetables and fruits, and excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes, starches, alcohol and processed foods.
Passler likes the Paleo diet's emphasis on consuming natural foods and eliminating processed junk, which fuels inflammation, weight gain, diabetes and heart disease.
"The basic idea of the Paleo diet is to eat what is natural and available," Passler told E! "If it looks like it came from nature it is fine. No processed foods, including breads and pasta, while also eliminating or minimizing grains."
Adriana credits her sizzling bikini body to the Paleo diet, and eats lots of organic vegetables, such as asparagus and spinach and low-sugar fruits such as blueberries and blackberries.
Paleo proponents say eating whole, well-sourced foods and cutting out processed junk dramatically improves your health and makes weight loss easy because you never feel deprived.
The Paleo diet has rocketed in popularity after numerous news reports confirmed its health and weight-loss benefits. In September 2013, a woman made headlines after revealing she lost 88 pounds without exercising on a hybrid Paleo-ketogenic diet.
