The Adrian Wyllie for Governor Campaign wrapped up a whirlwind weekend of campaigning Sunday afternoon across the northeastern part of Florida. Between Saturday morning and Sunday evening, Wyllie either hosted or attended seven separate events. While the campaign scheduled most of the stops in and around Jacksonville, Fla., Wyllie also visited communities to the south and west of the city.
Saturday’s stops across northeast Florida
On Saturday, Adrian Wyllie greeted the multitudes in MacIntosh (Marion County, Fla.). The Libertarian Candidate compared this huge event to the State Fair. There were close to 25,000 people there, all bumper to bumper. Wyllie shook hands continually with hundreds and hundreds of people, most of who were thrilled to meet and get to know him. While in MacIntosh, the Wyllie Campaign distributed over 2,000 cards.
Wyllie then moved on to Melrose (Putnam County, Fla.), where he was met by Bradford County Telegraph and Independent Florida Alligator reporters at the Blue Water Bay Restaurant. This was a pivotal stop in rural Florida.
Wyllie wrapped up Saturday's campaign stops by speaking to a crowd of Libertarians at an Irish pub located in Jacksonville. As always, the crowd loved him, and everyone in attendance joined the Wyllie team in some sort of capacity.
Sunday’s meet and greets in and around Jacksonville
Adrian Wyllie started the day on Sunday by attending the 10 a.m. service at St Luke's Metropolitan Community Church. After church, Wyllie traveled to the Jacksonville Pride Fest where he was well received by an enthusiastic crowd of over 2,000 people. In fact, many people registered or re-registered as Libertarian at that festival -- possibly the biggest switch ever for the Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF).
After the Pride Fest, Wyllie joined Florida State House Candidate Ken Willey, at the very crowded Orange Park Fall Festival. There were likely over 6,000 people attending the event. Wyllie went vendor to vendor shaking hands and asking questions. Again, there was an overwhelmingly great response. Finally, Wyllie wrapped up the weekend at Pompeii Pizza with supporters for dinner and a great time had by all.
