Adrian Peterson has a 2-year-old son who is in critical condition after an alleged case of child abuse. On Oct. 11, news broke that the child was on life support after some level of child abuse that likely involved beating. According to FOX Sports, Peterson has addressed the press and has thanked fans for their love, support, and prayers.
"I want to start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans, the Vikings organization. This is a private matter and I would ask y’all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand (sic)," Peterson said.
Adrian Peterson's son has not progressed and reports suggest that he is not going to live. As previously reported, his mother is waiting 24 hours before making the tough decision to take her baby boy off of life support. Peterson left the Vikings today to fly to South Dakota to be with his son but there isn't much that he can do. Medical professionals say that the child will not survive.
Peterson has received many messages on social media from people who are simply heartbroken over the ordeal. He has also received a lot of prayers and messages from his teammates and other friends in the NFL.
Despite Adrian Peterson's son's condition, he says that he will be playing in Sunday's home game against the Panthers. "I plan on playing Sunday. I will be playing Sunday, let me correct that. Be ready to roll, focused and ready to get a 'W' on Sunday, being 1-0."
Update: Peterson's son has died.
