On October 11th, it was reported that the Minnesota Viking, Adrian Peterson, suffered a great loss. His son was brutally murdered by Joseph Patterson, the boyfriend of the child's mother. It is unknown as to the motive for murder, but Patterson has a history of domestic abuse against woman and children. According to police, the mother left the home for a short period to run an errand and during that time, Patterson physically abused the child until he rendered him unconscious. When the paramedics arrived at the home, they attempted to resuscitate the child but he unfortunately passed away from the horrific injuries sustained from the abuse. At this time the alleged murderer has not spoken to the press about the incident, but he has been arrested for the child's death and will answer for his crime in a court of law. The public is outraged by this incident and does not comprehend how a grown man would purposely physically abuse a two year old to a point of death.
Peterson stated that he will indeed return to football in spite of his son's death, stating that football is his outlet for mourning his son. He seemed in good spirits and smiled during his interviews with the media. His demeanor toward the death of his son appears nonchalant and oddly calm for a parent who just lost a son in such a violent crime. However, people grieve in their own ways and he may be hurting on the inside.
