Joseph Patterson, the 27 year old man accused of beating and killing Adrian Peterson’s 2 year old son, has been released from jail on $750,000 bond, according to an Oct. 29 report in USA Today. Adrian Peterson is a running back for the Minnesota Vikings, and reportedly only recently heard of the boy from the mother, meeting the toddler for the first time while he was fighting for his life on life support, according to TMZ.
On Monday, Joseph Patterson, also known as Joey, requested to have his bond reduced. Tom Wollman, who is Lincoln County’s State Attorney, told the judge in the case that “Patterson's pattern of behavior and seriousness of the charges called for a higher bond,” as reported in the USA Today article.
Joseph Patterson’s bond was eventually reduced from $1,000,000 to $750,000 by the judge’s decision on the matter.
Patterson's family put up $750,000 cash,” said Wollman on Tuesday concerning the man accused.
USA Today was able to confirm with the Minnehaha County Jail that Joseph Patterson was not in their custody.
Sources close to Adrian Peterson told TMZ the football star was eager to help the 2 year old when the boy’s mother reached out him. Adrian Peterson reportedly had planned to fly to South Dakota and see his son for the first time in about a month, but unfortunately only saw his little boy right before he died in the hospital due to his injuries.
Joseph Patterson allegedly told 911 operators the boy was choking when he called for first responders. His attorney, Tim Rensch, states that the evidence of the boy’s death points to concluding that he died due to asphyxiation.
