Adrian Peterson's son has died as the result of an alleged assault by Joseph Patterson. Peterson's son was just two years old and Patterson has already been arrested for the crime. According to a new report from ESPN on Friday (Oct. 11), the child had been in critical condition at a South Dakota hospital, but died from injuries suffered after allegedly being assaulted.
Patterson is currently being held on two felony counts of aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault domestic. The news that it was the son of the NFL star came from his father (Nelson Peterson) who had spoken to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The Minnesota Vikings are preparing to play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (Oct. 13) and it is now unclear if their star running back will take the field. It had been widely known that he was going through something mid-week, but it wasn't until Friday morning that the scope of this tragedy started to be revealed.
Adrian Peterson's son was reportedly found unresponsive on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when police and EMS workers arrived at a Sioux Falls home. It looked like the child had been abused, leading to the arrest of Joseph Patterson, who is being called the boyfriend of his moth.
