Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson immediately left his team to be with his 2-year-old son who was reportedly beaten by his mother’s boyfriend and suffered severe head injuries. TMZ reports on October 11that Peterson’s son and was listed in critical condition in a South Dakota hospital.
According to reports, 27-year-old Joseph Patterson has been arrested and charged with aggravated felony and battery of an infant, but charges may become more serious as the 2-year-old is currently on life support and hasn’t had any brain activity since Thursday night.
Peterson’s son was rushed to the hospital after the attack where medical experts associated the injuries to that of child abuse.
Nelson Peterson, the father of Adrian Peterson, confirmed the injured boy as Adrian’s son, who he just found out was his child from a casual relationship between him and a casual Minnesota woman.
Nelson Peterson told The Pioneer Press:
“All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation.”
The mother of the child wants to remove life report if there is no improvement in the next 24 hours.
Adrian Peterson returned to the team on Friday and is expected to address the media some time during the day.
