According to the Daily Mail on Saturday, a video showing a Ben Marr, a 27-year-old adrenaline junkie kayaking down a terrifyingly steep drainage ditch in Lions Bay, British Columbia, has gone viral on Facebook, where it racked up more than 2,000 shares in just a few days, and with good reason: It's amazing.
Ben explained how he hiked up the huge storm drain in Lions Bay, before edging his kayak into the rushing downward waters.
Seconds later he is speeding down the man-made ditch, battling to keep his red kayak upright.
Marr, a professional kayaker, said he’s not worried those with less ability than him will attempt the dangerous-looking feat after seeing the video.
'I don’t think people are gonna jump on there without having the skills necessary to make it down safely,' he said.
Speaking to MailOnline, Marr says he would try the same daring stunt again. He says that although the entire experience is thrilling, he doesn't believe it to be dangerous.
'Daredevils are often looked at as reckless. We would prefer people saw us as calculated. There are very real risks with everything we do. Even though that slide isn't 'challenging' we take it seriously and we have a lot of experience behind us that gives us the ability to make the decisions we do, and enjoy our sport!'
Marr has other impressive feats under his belt. In 2010, he drank a beer while kayaking through a waterfall.
At the end of the video, after shooting out of the slide into Howe Sound, Marr says he reached speeds of 56 km/hour (just under 35 mph).
