Saturday is a big day for puppies, kitties and all fans of fur babies. The sixth annual Pups in the Park is set for today, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in McKinley Park, 301 Alhambra Blvd. The event is a fundraiser for the Front Street Animal Shelter in the city of Sacramento.

The day’s activities include a pups promenade, a dog costume contest, a raffle, food from SactoMoFo, and of course, the chance to meet adoptable pups and kitties. One of the key attractions just might be the kitten kissin’ booth – a fundraiser for the veterinary surgical services at the city shelter.

A dozen kittens are slated to pucker up for the “Kitten Kissin’ Booth.” The kittens are part of the neonatal rescue program at the shelter. Shelter staff write on the Facebook page that they have been working with the kittens to prepare for their with practice smooches and tummy tickles. For more information, see the shelter’s Facebook page or the event home page.

Don't forget: donations are being collected through Sunday, June 1 for a ReUseIt Drive collection. Donations will be accepted at the Sacramento ReUseIt Donation Station, 5005 Stockton Blvd. Clothing, shoes, blankets, linens, tools, kitchen items from your home, attic, garage and shed and more are welcome. No mattresses, hazardous materials, items in need of repair or cleaning are not accepted. For more information, visit reuseit.org or the shelter homepage.
