The Joint Council on International Children’s Services is partnering with Adoption Learning Partners to host a webinar regarding adoption. The webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, will tackle issues and questions adoptive parents face concerning their child’s behavior. Dr. Gregory Keck, founder and director of The Attachment and Bonding Center of Ohio, will discuss various frustrating behaviors some children exhibit and help parents sort out which of these issues are adoption-related. According to the Adoption Learning Partners website, this webinar will:
- Discuss common challenging behaviors adopted children may exhibit at each developmental stage.
- Offer real life examples and suggestions for handling these behaviors
- Examine effective and ineffective parenting tools
Through this webinar, Joint Council hopes to educate parents about whether a child’s behavior is unique to adopted children or just normal “kid” behavior, enabling parents to choose more effective parenting tools.
The webinar will run from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Central time) with a question and answer session to follow from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. (Central time). The cost for the webinar is $15 (Joplin area parents register here). After registering, a confirmation e-mail will be sent along with a link enabling participants to submit questions to Dr. Keck prior to the webinar.
