One of the greatest measures of success as an animal rescuer is to find out that an animal that you helped save is happy and thriving in its forever home. It reminds us why we do what we do every day in our efforts of saving the lives of our innocent four-legged fur babies.
This week’s adoption success story is Rocky (now Ziggy) from Good Mews Animal Foundation in Marietta. Here is his version of “happily ever after” (from his new family):
"I just thought you might like an update on one of your past Angels who blessed me by 'picking' me and become part of my family.
On November 29, 2008 I picked up Rocky (later named to Ziggy Bandito). The Zig-a-Man, as he is called, has brought over 4 years of pure joy and happiness to my life. He’s been through a lot making a move across the country from Georgia to Arkansas, losing his big brother Punky, who was called to heaven and moving to his current digs with an instant big sister, Sugar and “Best Friend” Dad.
Sugar did not like him at all and made that very clear to everyone with her constant hissing and growling and general bad attitude. But Ziggy being Ziggy has persevered for over a year now. Although she is not totally enamored with him, she has succumbed to his charms. And of course she finally realized she could no longer deny the spell he puts on anyone with that adorable face.
Since then, he also inherited a little brother, a stray we took in. Mr. Bojangles adores him and is like a little parrot copying all the things The Zigaman does like drinking water out of the faucet!
Ziggy never really had a “playmate” with Punky since he was a senior kitty, but he has his paws full with Bo!
So, there you have it. A happy ending… or I guess I should say beginning!”
