If you're ready to commit to a loving best friend who needs a home, then a shelter dog is waiting for you at The Las Vegas Animal Foundation "Doggone Home" event, Thursday, September 4 through Sunday, September 7 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. at both adoption locations.
Shelters across the Las Vegas valley have been overloaded with cats and dogs, and this event behing held by the Animal Foundation, has one goal: find a healthy, loving home for every animal left behind. They recently waived fees on cats/kittens and may do that again in the near future. This week, their focus is adopting out dogs.
Three things you should know first before heading down to the shelter:
1. Donations are encouraged - any amount will help pay for microchips, neutering, spaying, food, beds.
2. Bring family members to meet and greet the dog you may choose, and a valid ID along with proof of current address, ex: utility bill.
3. Be prepared to wait. Lines may be long, and it takes time to find the right forever friend.
And one final thought. If you are not willing to commit to the long haul with a shelter animal, then perhaps reconsider adopting a pet. There's nothing worse than taking home a lonely animal, only to have their heart broken again when someone decides they don't want them after all.
