National Mill Dog Rescue will be holding an adoption event at the Ducky Derby in Castle Rock, Colorado on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Ducky Derby raises funds for the Castle Rock Rotary Clubs, which support a variety of local charities, and is a great day of family fun. It has grown from humble beginnings in 1997 to an event drawing between 3,000 and 4,000 people last year. The festival includes a "waddle walk," entertainment, face painting, bouncy house, and plenty of food and other vendors. The highlight of the day is the ducky race, which will start at approximately 3:00 p.m. "Highly trained" ducks will race down Plum Creek, and the holder of the winning duck's number has a chance to win a million dollars! More likely is the usual top prize of $2,000, with second place winning $750 and third place winning $250.
National Mill Dog Rescue is the only rescue organization attending this event, and will be there all day with adorable adoptable dogs from their facility in Peyton as well as foster dogs. Several NMDR "alumni" dogs will be attending to support the organization and demonstrate what good pets puppy mill dogs can be.
