Adoptable Pets at Montgomery County Humane Society

While gathering new material at the shelter this week, I checked on Jack Marlow, the adoptable pet from my July 21 feature; and discovered he is still waiting for his perfect family. This time, however, I had an opportunity to spend a few quiet moments with Jack. It was nice to see how attentive he can be during a "time-out" from his favorite activity which involves checking out everyone that comes in or out. You see, Jack's kennel is very close to the visiting area front door; and he doesn't miss a thing!

We are highlighting 3 adoptable pets this week, one dog and two cats. Our first cat is:

Sweden - ID#: A351388 - spayed female -  Purrrrr...  At the shelter, I'm known as Sweden. I am considered a "senior citizen", only because of my age, which is 7. I was given up to the shelter for reasons that are unknown to me. People that have spent time with me have commented that I have a very sweet disposition, once you get to know me. You see, I am a little shy at first; and may even appear to be independent and a bit of a loner. But, that's only because I'm still getting used to the shelter. However, there is a plus side to my quiet and calm nature, which is my experience and maturity. I would love to snuggle up to someone who loves the indoors as much as I do. And I don't mind other cats! I'm actually quite good with them; and if necessary, can teach them a few things about being a nice, quiet, calm cat. As far as my physical attributes are concerned, I'm described as a brown tabby, with white socks, a white under-belly, neck and muzzle; and the cutest pink nose. My striping is dark; and I have beautiful green eyes. I'm not a big cat, nor am I small. I'm actually just about perfect! (Take a look at my photo...you'll see!) Won't you come and visit with me? I'd love to get to know you.

Marble - ID#: A350768 - spayed female - MEOW! I am cat! That's right. Pure, unadulterated, feline. If you meow at me, I will meow right back at you! I can talk, talk, talk. If you want friendly and outgoing, that's me! I get along with other cats, too. You see, I was a stray before I came to the shelter. I had to "make it on my own"; and I found the best way to do that is to be friendly and cheerful to everyone I meet. But I still have a lot to learn; and lots of time to do it because I'm still a  youngster...only 1 year old. There isn't a photo of me yet, so I'll do my best to tell you what I look like: I'm a Domestic shorthair, brown tabby...that means I have stripes! I even have what appears to be an "M" right in the middle of my forehead. My eyes are yellowish and very striking, if I do say so myself! I'm also very petite for my age, so I may have a lilttle growing to do. I am very delicate and lady-like. But don't let that fool you! I really want to play and have lots of fun with my own special family. I just can't wait! Please...come to the shelter and ask for Marble (ID#: A350768).

Bella - Tag #184 - ID#: A351338 - female (spayed upon adoption) - Woof, woof, woof..., which means "hello", I'm Bella! And I'm very happy to make your acquaintance. As you can see from my photo, I'm a young, American pit bull with cropped ears, golden eyes, an unaltered tail, "white bowtie", amazing gray nose, and a healthy blue/gray coat, with brown highlights. Due to my relative immaturity, I can be a handful at times; and will need you to be able to set strict boundaries for me. In addition, I will require mandatory obedience classes; and an adopter with previous dog experience. Also, because of my youth, I will need lots and lots of exercise. But don't worry...I'm UP for it. Plus, I'm very smart and friendly; and eager to please. And all I need in return is a "forever home" and lots of belly rubs at the end of the day.

Thank you. And remember, "adoption is a fabulous option"!
