Adoptable Dogs of the Month: Sweet Hansel & Gretel!

Hansel & Gretel are extremely sweet, housetrained, good with other dogs and most likely, with cats. We would love to keep this pair together, but for the right situation, would be willing to see how they do on their own. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org

August's Adoptable Dogs of the Month – Adorable Hansel & Gretel!

Adoptable Dogs of the Month - Hansel & Gretel
2nd Chance Dog Rescue

2nd Chance Dog Rescue's Dogs of the Month were rescued by Diana Czarnecki, 2nd Chance's founder, approximately one year ago, and everyone is scratching their heads trying to figure out how two adorable pups like Hansel & Gretel have not been scooped up by some lucky families (they do not necessarily need to be adopted together)!

She rescued this couple from an office complex in the East Valley - they were abandoned and managed to survive for close to two weeks by leaning on each other. As small, young dogs, they would never have made it on the streets without looking out for each other. Many people tried to rescue the couple, but they were skittish and in "survivor mode" and didn't trust anyone. Enter Diana Czarnecki. After spending 3 hours trying to gain their trust, Gretel finally gave in and Hansel wasn't too far behind.

When she first rescued them, she thought for sure they would need to be adopted together, but since being in foster with several other dogs, Hansel and Gretel have become independent and no longer lean on each other the way they did when it was a matter of their survival.

Gretel is approximately 2 years old and is a wire-haired terrier weighing 5 pounds; she is shy at first, but warms up quickly and enjoys playing lap dog. Hansel is a typical boy, he loves to run and play with the other dogs...Hansel is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, approximately 2 years old. If you are interested in meeting the pair or just one of them, please go to the 2nd Chance Dog Rescue website and fill out an adoption form http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/forms/ - someone will get into contact you after reviewing your application!

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.” ― Milan Kundera
