Adoptable cat of the week: Emma Bear from Furkids

The “adoptable cat of the week” in metro Atlanta this week is Emma Bear from Furkids. Emma Bear is an eight year old female Maine Coon mix. Here is more about Emma Bear from the Furkids’ website:

“Emma Bear is a beautiful brown tabby Maine Coon mix. All this girl wants is someone who will give her lots of TLC and a forever home. Emma Bear had a home once but when her family could no longer care for her they surrendered her to Furkids. She is very shy and will need someone who is patient with her and will give her a second chance.

Even though Emma Bear is an older kitty, she still has a lot of love to give. She loves to be petted and purrs immediately when you start scratching her under her chin. Emma Bear is very low key and would probably be best as an only pet in a home with no young children. Is there anyone out there who can open their heart and home to this beautiful girl?”

About Furkids (provided by Samantha Shelton, Furkids’ Founder and Director)

“Furkids, Inc., founded in 2002, is a 501(c)3, charitable, non-profit organization that provides a cage-free, no-kill shelter for rescued cats and dogs where they can experience the best care in a loving environment until they are adopted. Each year, Furkids rescues, shelters, sterilizes, rehabilitates, and places hundreds of animals in permanent, loving homes.

Furkids is one of the most successful nonprofit animal rescue organizations in the southeast, operating the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter for homeless cats in Georgia and a no-kill shelter for dogs. Furkids cares for more animals on a daily basis than any other local organization, including the Atlanta Humane Society. Currently, Furkids cares for approximately 600 cats and dogs at the organization’s shelters, adoption centers and in its foster program. During its ten years, Furkids has rescued and altered more than 7,000 animals. The 2011 union of Furkids with SmallDog Rescue & Humane Society expanded operations to include both homeless cats and dogs.”
