Adopt-a-Crag, the Access Fund’s signature stewardship program, will be doing some trail work, barbecuing and climbing up at Ruth Lake in the Uinta Mountains of Utah this weekend on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Salt Lake Climbers Alliance will be hosting this event and invite you and your friends to come get your hands dirty, enjoy some good eats, and mingle with some great people.
The focus at Ruth Lake will be to finish the stone steps that were started at last year’s Adopt-a-Crag and mitigate other erosion impacts at the most popular crag in the Uintas. Bring your own mountain attire, work gloves, lunch and water. Keep in mind that it could snow this weekend and close-toed shoes are required.
Registration for the event starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carpooling is encouraged, and there will be free camping in the field. A delicious BBQ by the American Alpine Club will be at 4:00 p.m. and is located at the next right after Ruth Lake. There will be a gear raffle for participants, and Sunday will be the day to show off your mad climbing skills.
Pre-registration is requested and can be done at http://www.saltlakeclimbers.org/event-registration/?ee=4. Please share your gratitude to the Access Fund, Salt Lake Climbers Alliance and the American Alpine Club for their continued support and hard work at helping keep our beloved crags open for climbing.
