The Milwaukee Admirals opened their training camp Monday afternoon at the Kern Center in downtown Milwaukee. The two hour practice, lead by first year head coach Dean Evason, was the first of a ten-day camp leading up to the start of the 2012-2013 season. The 27-man roster includes 12 familiar faces, as forwards Taylor Beck, Gabriel Bourque, Kevin Henderson, Jani Lajunen, Michael Latta, Juuso Puustinen, Ben Ryan, Mark Van Guilder, defenseman Victor Bartley, Jeff Foss, and Scott Valentine, and goalie Jeremy Smith have all spent ample time with the club last season. Day two of training camp starts this morning with a 7:45am workout, followed by a video session at 8:45am and on-ice practice at 10:00am. Their schedule is similar on Wednesday, and Thursday the team travels to Rockford for a preseason content against the Rockford IceHogs. Admirals fans will have a chance to see the team in action Saturday night at the Kern Center when the Admirals play the Chicago Wolves at 7:00pm.

Division rivals the Chicago Wolves and Peoria Rivermen squared off in their first preseason contest in Peoria last night, with the Rivermen taking the game 2-1 in a shootout. The game marked the first of 40 preseason games league wide, and the first of four for Chicago and three for Peoria. Also note that former Milwaukee Admiral Scott Ford is on the 30-man training camp roster for Peoria after signing with the team this past offseason.
