The Golden Globes awards took place on January 13th at the Beverly Hilton hotel. In music, Adele won for Best Original Song for her song "Skyfall" from the movie "Skyfall". Adele beat out Taylor Swift, Jon Bon Jovi, Keith Urban and the song Suddenly from "LesMiserables.
"Oh my God". I came for a night out with a friend who is also a new mum and was not expecting to win. "We' ve been pissing ourselves laughing I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association... never thought I would say that" said Adele on stage after winning. She also thanked her boyfriend and son, Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, her new son and her boyfriend Sam who "encouraged her to do the song".
After winning, Adele spoke with the press still excited as this was her first night out since she had her baby. She refused to give her son's name and said that she would never be a Bond if they asked her when asked by reports.
As for the songwriting she stated "My inspiration normally comes from heartbreak, but I don’t think I’m ever going to be devastated again".
Adele also won the Critic's Choice Awards last week for the song but was not in attendance at the ceremony.
The song which she wrote with her producer Paul Epworth is also nominated for an Oscar. The Academy Awards will be held on February 24. The song will compete against "Before My Time" from Chasing Ice, "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from Ted, "Pi's Lullaby" from Life of Pi and "Suddenly" from Les Miserables.
