Adele's big award season

It’s been a good month for Adele. She won the Brit Award for Best British Single for the James Bond theme, “Skyfall.” Then, she topped that by winning the Academy Award, along with co-writer Paul Epworth, for Best Original Song. As if that weren’t enough, her album, “21,” has topped the global albums chart for the second year in a row.

Adele sang, “Skyfall” at the Oscar broadcast on Sunday. Unfortunately, the sound mixer had her vocal mixed so low and the orchestra mixed so high, that it was hard to hear her singing.

The artist gave a short, tearful acceptance speech at the Oscars. She was not able to be at the Brit Awards in London that same week because she was in Los Angeles rehearsing for the Oscar cast.

She taped a short acceptance speech saying, “I won’t keep you too long because I don’t want to interrupt the Best Album speech at the end of the night.” That was a reference to her acceptance speech last year for winning Best Album being interrupted because the show was running late.

While celebrating Adele’s win, her fans are probably disappointed that the artist has no plans to record her next album any time soon. She gave birth over the summer to her first child.

Backstage after her win at the Oscars, she was asked about a possible collaboration with her friend, singer Robbie Williams, she replied, “I don’t think so.”

She went on to say, “We’re just enjoying being parents together, really. His little girl is only two weeks older than mine. It’s a lot of fun. And we just discuss how to stay out of the limelight, if anything, unfortunately.”

She won the Best Pop Solo Grammy award on February 12 for her live version of, “Set Fire To the Rain.”

After her win, she answered press questions about a new album by saying, “I’m not very far along at all. I’ve been out of the loop, really.”

She described her writing process with Epworth saying, “Normally, I go to him with an idea and Paul has an idea ready for me, as well. We just kind of throw them at each other.”

Epworth added that honesty is Adele’s strength.

Adele said, “It’s a bad strength, though, because the whole world knows my business. Going into the studio and involving someone in your life…I cried the first time when I told Paul about my ex and then, ‘Rolling In the Deep’ happened.”

With her new life as a mother, her next recording will probably have a very different theme.
