The 54th Annual Grammy Awards air tomorrow, February 12th at 8 PM EST on CBS (in Flint on WNEM TV5). Today’s featured Fan Poll of the day on the People’s Choice website asks this question:
‘Who will win for Album of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards?’
All 5 Album of the Year nominees are listed for choices: Adele ‘21’, Lady Gaga ‘Born This Way’, Rihanna ‘Loud’, Foo Fighters ‘Wasting Light’ and Bruno Mars ‘Doo Wops and Hooligans’.
At the time of this printing (2:22 PM EST) on February 11th, Adele leads the poll with a strong 51% of the vote. The rest of the contenders rank as follows:
Lady Gaga ‘Born This Way’ 21%
Bruno Mars ‘Doo Wops and Hooligans’ 13%
Rihanna ‘Loud’ 7%
Foo Fighters ‘Wasting Light’ 7%
Lady Gaga has snagged second place in the poll, but there is a big spread between the first and second spots.
Flint TV column reader Lisa Herrick of Grand Rapids is a huge Lady Gaga fan and even went to see her perform live on New Year’s Eve in Times Square. She dubs ‘Born This Way’ as ‘inspirational’ and will be rooting for Gaga tomorrow at the Grammys.
The two very talented ladies share a very coveted title: Billboard Artist of the Year. Adele received the honor in 2011 and Gaga in 2010. Both albums currently up for Album of the Year from these ladies mark their second studio albums. And, songs from both albums have been certified multi-platinum and featured on the hit television series ‘Glee’.
Gaga packs a whopping 5 Grammy Awards under her belt against Adele’s 2 Grammys, and ‘Born This Way’ won the People’s Choice Award this year for Album of the Year.
While this poll in no way indicates which of the featured contenders will actually take home the Album of the Year prize tomorrow, it does indicate how public voting members in the People’s Choice community feel.
