So quite a bit of hubbub has been made this week over John Travolta’s name gaffe at the Oscars Sunday. Does he or does he not suffer from dyslexia? Is Travolta seeking assistance with his ailment from Scientologists?
Here’s something original though – The Adele Dazeem Name Generator. The new widget, carried by slate.com on March 3, is all the rage. Enter your name and Travolta will mangle it up into a contorted and bogus moniker, one that makes complete sense to our swaggering Vinnie Barbarino and no one else.
When John Travolta called Idina Menzel "Adele Dazeem" at the Oscars, he created a new standard for superstardom: You're no one until you've had your name mangled by a confused, squinting John Travolta. What's your Travoltified name? Find out with our handy widget!
I entered my name; it came back “Lacey Boofd.” Odd.
In case you missed it, on stage Sunday night, in front of over 40 million viewers, Travolta introduced Broadway star and “Glee” actress Idina Menzel by mauling her name and calling her “Adele Dazeem.” Not even close Mr. Travolta.
There's a silver lining though. The “Let It Go” singer from the animated feature “Frozen” was a bit of an unknown until the Travolta flub. Moments after Travolta mangled the singer’s name, Menzel become the talk of the town, and a social media darling.
A Twitter account set up under @adeladazeem, went up immediately and soon had over 16,000 followers, many of which were mocking 60-year-old Travolta’s blunder. And Menzel's actual Twitter page picked up a robust folllowing as well.
So on behalf of Idina, thank you “Jan Thozomas.”
