Heaven knows that addiction is a huge problem in America today. The Emmy-Award winning A&E television series "Intervention" has helped many families and friends get through some of the toughest situations of their lives by having an interventionist help them communicate to their addict that they need help, are loved, and need to go to treatment. Now TLC has its own intervention-style program called "Addicted" and the new series premieres tonight at 10/9c.
It's tough to get addicts to quit their self-destructive habits, be it alcohol, drugs, plastic surgery addiction, compulsive spending, or gambling, and some family members turn to "interventionists" to help them through the process.
The new TLC series "Addicted" is a one-hour docu-series following the lives of people struggling with addiction. They will be helped by interventionist Kristina Wandzilak.
From TLC:
"Each episode will take viewers on the unpredictable journey of recovery and the harrowing struggle to become sober.
Addicted depicts the debilitating disease of addiction and how it not only affects the addict but the family as well. And no one more intimately knows this than top interventionist Kristina Wandzilak. As a recovering addict herself, Kristina pulls from her own experiences, bringing a level of understanding and compassion to the healing process. In addition to her strength and commitment to sobriety, Kristina is a mother, a wife, a top-selling author, a world-renowned public speaker and one of the most sought-after, unconventional, top addiction interventionists in the country. Kristina will empower the addicts and the families to help them not only get sober, but to also live the healthy lives they deserve.
The series will focus on one person per episode. And while the problem of substance abuse is addressed, the family and the addict are also given the tools to not only get well in the moment but to continue a healthy life, or as Kristina says, "not just how to get in the door but how to walk the path." The interventions that take place are planned by all members of the family, including the addict. TLC will take viewers inside the difficult, but ultimately inspiring battle to overcome substance abuse. "Addiction happens to good people and decent families all the time," says Wandzilak. "I know how to change a life, and I know how to live better. I can do that. I am an example of it, and if I can do it, anyone can."

I'm looking for the show on cable...It's not on! I really want to watch it... what's up TLC? For some reason some thing on Tiger woods in on. -_-
Anyone have insight?
I consider this show to be a form of "drug porn". I am going to stop watching these shows. I think they are unrealistic and give a false view of the reality of how ugly it really is. No one is going to be themselves in front of a camera and no camera crew is going to be able to catch the agony of the day to day 24/7 horrors of living with addiction. Its using a very serious matter as a form of entertainment. As the parent of a heroin addict I speak from experience. Shows like this can do more harm than good. Anyone who cares about addicts would not film one shooting up on TV for another addict to accidentally see, its extremely irresponsible and if you don't understand why, that proves me point further. Using addiction as a form of entertainment is shameful.
I thought the show was great! I checked my son into a great treatment center in fort lauderdale called Ther Recovery Place; it made all the difference. therecoveryplace.net
As another mother of an addict, I find these shows extremely helpful in showing the very unglamorous side of drug addiction and drug abuse. It also shows that there is a way out for addicts and that they can reach out and people do care. These shows are important, at least as important as the fluffy shows like American Idol.
Kristina, i love this show because i love to see you help people gain their lives back and get another chance. My daughter overdosed last year on methadone and zanix , she was only 27 years old ,that happened in Jan, 2009 and then in April 2009 my son passed in a car crash and he too was hooked on drugs and also was 27 years old. My heart goes out to all these people struggling with these life consuming addictions and i am glad that that you are there to help save someones life.God bless you , you are an angel.

Kristina,
I hope u see this comment. You are such a wonderful person to share your lifes addiction problem and be able to help so many others. You are sweet, kind and tough!!! I am so happy you turned your life around, and now do such a great service to struggling addicts everywhere. You are phenomenal and very pretty too. Keep up the good work and maybe one day I can get the courage to ask for your help.
As Barbara wote ," I think they are unrealistic and give a false view of the reality of how ugly it really is. Using addiction as a form of entertainment is shameful". I have personally experienced The horrors of addiction in my children for over 25 years ! I have done "EVERYTHING" & I do mean everything humanly possible to help my children ! In This Country it seems the "only" way to get help for your addict is the law ! They must be arrested !
Neither of my addicts have insurance , and even the process of getting medicaid is a 45-60 day process during which time many have lost their loved one who is addicted ! I have one son who spent years in prison only to return to his first love . The other in & out of rehabs ( court ordered ) to run as fast as possible to his drug ! both use anything but heroin is their drug of choice . We are all sick due to addiction . I love my boys but I am hateful & resent the system almost as much as the addiction I am torchered by every single day of my life . What can you do to help me ? I don't have the needed answers , perhaps you do !
The fear of losing a child to drugs through death is the worst ! Not all addicts have the opportunity to get help , that seems more something for the elete ! Help me woman ! Can you help me & my addicts or will that be something for those of wealth alone ? Help me to helpm my boys , you've been there , you made it , help those less fortunate ! My faith has been the sustaining factor that has brought me this far . I would love to hear from you personally , Reassure me that you can & will help me !!! Or is it as Barbara stated , just A form of entertainment to those who are not walking this path of HELL ?

I'am so sick of these addiction shows including intervention. Most my friends an family are drug addicts and they aint getting no help!! they are far far worse then any rich mother f****** on these shows.. So f*** all you PROFESSIONAL interventionist! pull some money out your rich pocket and help someone that dont have parents that will pay there way through rehab. That is if these shows are about helping people??
so all say it one more time F*** all you guys! help my cuzin hes all strung out on e and hes only thirteen.. but he aint gunna get no help cuz hes got NO MONEY ahahaha funny huh:/

I will be prayin for him(an his family). please don't ever give up on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he has a disease!!!! and it ranks up there with cancer! they just view us in a different way..........like we're losers. so far from the truth! i pray this child will be able to get the help he needs............lori, please help this child. don't just focus on the one's we seeon your show with swimming pools in the background!!! potiongal@gmail
KRISTINA,I WATCHED THE 4-21-10 SHOW AND I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED AND INSULTED BY YOUR RESPONSE TO MIKES'MOM! SHE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE PROCESS OF RECOVERY NOR THAT SHE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ADDICTION NOR HIS RECOVERY,AND YES SHE WILL COME TO LEARN THAT IF SHE ATTENDS AND CONTINUE TO ATTEND AL-ANON. BUT FOR YOU TO TELL HER,"IT'S NOT YOUR BUSINESS!" AND IN THE MANNER THAT YOU SAID IT WAS VERY SARCASTIC AND IN MY OPINION RUDE! SHE CLEARLY SAID SHE DIDNT UNDERSTAND,ALL YOU SHOULD OF DONE WAS EXPLAIN IT FURTHER. NOT SPEAK TO HER AS IF SHE WAS AT FAULT OR LIKE SHE WAS UNIMPORTANT,AFTERALL THAT IS HER SON! THIS IS THE PROBLEM I SEE WITH ALOT OF YOU WITH THESE TITLES BEHIND YOUR NAME,YOU ALL SEEM TO LOOSE PERSPECTIVE,COSIDERATION,AND MOST OF ALL COURTESY! AND YOU SEEM TO BE MORE KIND TO THE ADDICT THAN THE PARENTS(what's that about, could it be your own stuff?)WE BOTH KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO DO WITH OUR OWN STUFF! YOU NEED TO CHECK YOURSELF........IM GLAD TO KNOW YOU ARENT THE ONLY HELP OUT!
I have someone i know very well who is addicated to drugs. You will be talking to him and he will fall asleep in the middle of the sentnce i am afaraid we will find him dead in the office.
As a parent of a 22 yr old addict the show gives me hope, it has educated me. First an addict has to want help, but the sad part is most cant afford help and our drug courts are not to help but to put the addicts behind bars. Or the waiting list for a rehab over 28 days is long and no addict can get well in 28 days. My daughter had been dealing with drug court since nov of last year, she has been in jail now for 8 wks waiting to go to rehab. The states pay more money to house inmates for drug addiction and no money for the help they truely need. if u dont have alot of money or ins, ur more than likely going to end uo in jail or prision or dead. I wished more people were out there like Kristina, we dont even have a rehab in our communtiy and this town if flooded with meth and legal drugs. Keep up the great work. One person at a time, one addiction at a time. There is hope.. Thank You
Patricia, I think most of us have or is experiencing your pain. My daughter has been using drugs since she was 14 she is 22. I have picked her up out of the tub and floor so many times, notknowing if she was going to live or die,I have seen the worst of the worst as many have that are living with a loved one and addiction. It has taken us 6 months to finaly get her into what we hope is a long term dual rehab, but I know as a parent she has to want the help and want to be clean. I hope you find the help and peace for your children because ther is nothing more than the love a parent has for there child and nothing more painful than to see there child lying on deaths bed due to addiction. We need to start our own war on drugs to get more intervention and help for our loved ones in our communities, but where do we start.
hey lori, my son is on his way to prison. meth, 15 years, me...30! we are best friends and we use (d) together. don't get any more disfunctional than dat!!!!! addiction is so very POWERFUL, CUNNING an BAFFLING! i never wanted to see my son go to prison to get help. the real blessing here is that i didn't get a phone call saying my son was dead..............enstead, my call was...."your son is in jail". God does have his way of blessing us!! we are both walking through this together......what kind of mother would i be if i didn't stand beside him? hypocrits....please, no comments. please don't comment if you've never walked in our shoes!!!!!!
Solution to the drug problem? More rehabs than jails. An addict is not a criminal. They
I was just watching tv and i found this show. It looked ridiculous and triggered my curiosity so i watched. Its so incomprehensibly disgusting that someone working for a television station thought "you know what? I'm going to film "drug addicts" going through their "problems" and put it on television". I cannot believe you Americans and the filth you watch on television. Its sickening. The show's budget is probably at least a few hundred thousand dollars, the show's income is probably in the millions, spread out over all the people who work for it. If you people out there who are addicted or you are fighting with another person's addiction and you need money for some serious rehab, start writing letters to the people responsible for this show.
The company responsible is Asylum Entertainment. 7920 Sunset Blvd., Second Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90046 Phone: 310-696-4600 | Fax: 310-696-4891
Harass them, confront them. Demand them not for the money, but for them to pay the rehab bill. A lot more problems are going to get solved then just showing upper class people with their pathetic problems on a dumb television show. To all the real addicts out there, my heart goes out to you and i hope you fight and overcome.
