In Chicago, Israeli singer/songwriter David Broza, the Berlin-based Yiddish Punk Cabaret band Daniel Kahn & The Painted Bird, blues harmonica master Corky Siegel and Sean Altman will lead Chicagoans in an interactive Passover Seder dinner at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20.
Hosted by City Winery Chicago on 1200 W. Randolph Street, the 2013 Downtown Seder will seat guests at long family-style tables for kosher-style and vegetarian meals prepared by City Winery Executive Chef Andres Barrera.
“The Downtown Seder is specifically being held five days prior to the start of Passover so that guests might bring the inspiration into their homes and make their own Seder dinner more relevant,” says City Winery’s Michael Dorf, who first produced The Downtown Seder at the Cultural Center in 2011.
Throughout the 90-minute meal, performers will sit with guests and expound on various sections of the Passover Haggadah which has been specially developed for this night.
Beyond Broza, Kahn, Siegel, and Altman, other talent expected to participate includes musical acts, from the Klezmatics’ trumpeter Frank London, members of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, Eddie Holstein, Jon Spiegel, Silver Rose and more.
Tickets are priced at $70, $110 and $145 (based on seating location). Vegetarian and kosher-style meal is included, with a Kosher option available for an additional $25 per person. For reservations, call 312-733-9463 or visit www.citywinery.com.
