Adaptive Outdoorsman allows stroke victims to still go fishing

Chuck Cochran decided he would do the sometimes inexplicable, at least to some folks it would be, and help a friend out.  His friend suffered a stroke and was unable to continue his favorite past time, fishing.

Chuck began by using all sorts of fishing reels, or their parts, and with the help of a battery-operated hand drill he put together a reel that would allow his buddy to be able to get back to the sport of his life. The Power Fishin' Hybrid Reels, that is both manual and automatic.

Eventually he sold his invention to the Rock Island Equipment Company, and a fishing reel star was born.  The reel was on the market as of August 1, 2011.  Now it's a Shakespeare spinning real fitted with a strong, quiet motor.  Built in the U.S.A..

You can crank the line by hand or you can retrieve it by a pressing a button and letting the motor bring it in for you.

It is now being carried by Adaptive Outdoorsman, "Our belief is that anyone with a handicap or disability who enjoys hunting, fishing or camping should be able to."

For fishing, they also have a Ken's Power Caster box, for hands free casting and power retrieval.  You can go to their site and check out the video and information about how it works.

Necessity is the mother of invention all right, when there is the will there will be a way made.  Fish on.
