Award winning film maker Adam Strange was killed by great white sharks off the coast of New Zealand earlier today. According to TMZ strange was swimming at a popular beach in New Zealand when a great white shark pulled him under the water.
At least three other sharks were drawn into the attack. Local police jumped into a boat and raced to the scene armed with guns. The police fired at least 20 shots at the sharks but it was too late for Strange. One shark reported killed by the gun fire later washed up on shore. The shark was 14 feet long.
The Mirror reports that over 200 holiday makers, many of them children, watched in horror as the sharks ripped into Strange. Blood from the initial attack attracted more sharks, and led to a feeding frenzy. The police used a boat and helicopter along with guns to try and save Strange and did recover his body.
Eyewitnesses said the most aggressive shark refused to let go of Strange’s body until a marksman blasted it. It could have been the dead shark later dragged to shore. More details are forthcoming on this attack.
