Adam Savage has been added to the list of speakers at the Reason Rally – a free event at the National Mall in Washington D.C. taking place on March 24, 2012 that is slated to be the largest gathering of the secular movement in world history – says David Silverman, president of American Atheists and Chair of the Reason Rally, commenting specifically for this article.
Adam Savage is best-known for being the co-host of Discovery Channel's MythBusters series and is a regular presenter at The Amazing Meeting. He has also appeared on episodes of skeptical podcasts Skepticality and The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe.
Silverman says that he is excited to have Adam Savage speaking at the Reason Rally because of Savage's “positive message of the scientific method” and “the awesomeness of science he portrays.” Silverman hopes that news of Savage's appearance can reach out to the skeptical part of the secular community that doesn't think of atheism much and draw even more people to the Reason Rally.
Silverman says, regarding the Reason Rally, “We're putting everything we've got into this and hope that the movement responds by generating as much buzz as possible. It's a team effort. We hope people who are coming and people who aren't coming can publicize this.”
