Adam Ondra has officially sent La Dura Dura, the world’s hardest climbing route located in Oliana, Spain. This is the second 5.15c route Ondra has sent as his first was in Norway (Change), but he noted that La Dura Dura was harder than Change.
Ondra commented to 8a.nu, "It was 2nd day on, my forearms felt sore in the morning. I was thinking of calling it a rest day... But I was less nervous and battled through the bottom and got very pumped to the 2nd crux, where I didn't fall despite no expectations. Sticking the jug, I felt like having a heart attack but I kept it together. 9b+ it is J."
Last week Ondra attempted to send La Dura Dura coming extremely close, falling only two moves away from easier climbing. Although he was frustrated, there were no doubts that he would send La Dura Dura soon. Ondra’s five trips and nine weeks of intense devotion of effort paid off for him this morning.
Big Up Productions announced the incredible feat via Instagram, and there will most likely be some footage to follow in the near future.
Adam Ondra was definitely all smiles after his accomplishment, and I’m sure there were cheers all around once he reached the top of this behemoth. Congratulations to Ondra for conquering La Dura Dura!
