Michael Muhney was abruptly terminated from the role of Adam Newman on “The Young and the Restless” and the character was presumed dead after a car accident which also facilitated the exit of Billy Miller. Is “The Young and the Restless” ready to recast the role of Adam Newman already?
Michael Muhney fans, who use the hashtag Team Muhney on Twitter, were already angry when Muhney was fired, and according to a report on March 19 from the Christian Post, they are even angrier now. Rumors that Trevor St. John may assume the role of Adam Newman have been circulating but not yet confirmed.
Michael Muhney’s exit from “The Young and the Restless” left a gaping hole in the cast. A car accident that ended in an explosion on Jan. 30 left fans wondering if the role would be recast or if Adam Newman had died. There was also some speculation that “Young and the Restless” brass were waiting for things to calm down and would rehire Muhney to portray Adam Newman.
Speculation has begun about the recast of the role now that Victor Newman has confirmed that Adam is indeed alive. One name that is being heard repeatedly is Trevor St. John, who has previously portrayed the strong but ruthless character of Todd Manning/Victor Lord, Jr. on the new defunct ABC soap opera “One Life to Live.” St. John is no stranger to assuming roles portrayed by strong actors. Emmy award winner Roger Howarth played the role of Todd Manning/Victor Lord, Jr. for many years before exiting the show. When Trevor St. John took over the role he quickly won fans over with his portrayal of the character.
There have not been any comments from CBS regarding recasting the role of Adam Newman, but this is normal procedure. Once the role has been recast an official announcement will be issued.
