Adam Medrano, 37, filed yesterday to run for the Dallas City Council seat representing District 2 which encompasses most of Downtown Dallas. His hope is to take over the seat from his aunt, Pauline Medrano, who is prevented from running for re-election due to term limits.
Currently, he faces challenges for the District 2 seat from real estate investor Herschel Weisfeld and neighborhood activist Ricky Gonzales. More candidates could get into the race; March 1 is the filing deadline.

Locally-based American Airlines is rumored to have a board meeting early next week to discuss and possibly vote on the viability of merging with US Airways. However, even if the board votes for the merger, there is still a long road ahead as the US Airways board would have to consider a merger, along with creditors, American’s bankruptcy judge, the U.S. Department of Justice and even the European Union before the two companies would ever become one.
