Adam McQuaid should be ready to go for the Boston Bruins 2013 season opener, according to general manager Peter Chiarelli.
McQuaid had surgery for blood clot issues back in October and was expected to be out of commission until February for recovery. However, Chiarelli said on Jan. 13 that he expects to see McQuaid out there when the Bruins open against the New York Rangers on Jan. 19.
"I would assume so, yes, unless he stinks out there," he said jokingly. "He’s been cleared to play now. I don’t what level of contact he can take, but I think he’s been cleared to play."
In training camp practices on Jan. 13 and 14, McQuaid has been paired on defense with Andrew Ference.
