Adam Lambert will face his critics on 'The View' (video)
Adam Lambert has signed on to perform on this Thursday morning's episode of The View on ABC.
Adam Lambert came under widespread criticism two weeks ago after his risque performance at the American Music Awards which included simulated oral sex, dancers being lead around on leather leashes and male-on-male kissing. ABC executives dropped Adam Lambert from his scheduled Good Morning America performance a few days later, stating their concern that Lambert's performance would be "inappropriate for daytime television". There's no official word on what made ABC change their tune, but it may have had something to do with the big ratings CBS' Early Show scored when they snapped up Adam Lambert to perform on their show after ABC's cancellation.
Adam Lambert was a subject of intense debate on The View "Hot Topics" segment the morning after his controversial AMA performance. Conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was fervent in her criticism of Adam Lambert's performance:
"Does anyone know what song he sang?" sneered Hasselbeck. "And does anyone remember what he sounded like? Because let me tell you this, this is a mistake Adam Lambert will make time and time again. We will not remember him as a performer or someone with a voice if he continues to do this. He'll smarten up and sing."

The View co-host Sherri Shepherd went so far as to say that Adam Lambert had betrayed his American Idol fan base. "Those people who were voting for him did not know that he was going to go and grind some man's head in his crotch," said Shepherd on a separate "Hot Topics" segment.
At the time, ABC executives also refused to allow a rebroadcast of the footage from Adam Lambert's performance during The View "Hot Topics" segment. Barbara Walters called her own network's decision "absurd". After seeing the video, Walters later admitted that Adam Lambert's performance was "

Of course I remember the name of the song (FYE) and what his vocals sounded like (not his usual stellar vocals which he freely admits!) but so much better than Eminem's horrible rapping. Hasselbeck, why are you so sanctimonius about Adam's performance and not the others that preceded him with all the crotch grabbing etc.? Why weren't you offended by that enough to change the tv channel or turn it off? To state that Adam will make the same "mistakes" over again simply shows how inane you really are. Adam is one very intelligent young man and I'd wager his IQ is much higher than yours! He is a gifted singer, wonderful human being, kind, open and honest. Why don't you concentrate on his great qualities instead of tearing him down? Adam will, or already is, huge and you are simply bellowing in the wind.. get over it and join the millions of us that enjoy the beauty and wonder of Adam Lambert. Try loving him...its so much fun!
Adam is the best and most talented singer and performer is decades. I respectfully beg to differ with Ms.Sheppard, Adam did not betray his fans as far as I am concerned , we know Adam is sexy, sensual, and is true to himself and we expect the unexpected from this sexy,talented man, he is exciting. I do not understand why Ms.Sheppard and Ms.Hasselbeck cannot be more objective and cannot see past what sounds like anger, if you accuse Adam then you must basically accuse the whole show ABC put on for 95% of the artists put on very sexual shows , the only one that made me uncomfortable was Eminem singing about a guy bragging about 17 rapes, now that would make me much more angry. anyway, I look forward to seeing this amazing young man, he is all class and style and I am sure will hold his own. I would be most disappointed if Sheppard and Hasselbeck went overboard emotionally as has happened in the past. Not professional interviewing, let's keep it professional please
Adam is a very charismatic and charming young man. I doubt he will have problems with Eliz H. He isn't highly confrontive, though he is self confident and assertive and he is also bright and calm under fire. I sure hope ABC stops all forms of censorship when it comes to Adam because he isn't going to make the same mistake twice and his video of FYE is fantastic!! Adam's album is really fantastic and I just can't stop listening to it. ABC needs to get over their bias and let this remarkable performer grace their channel because it will be to their benefit. 1500 complaints out of 14.2 million viewers is nothing.
i can't believe i'm about to say this, but elisabeth wasn't that wrong! really, that performance did nothing for his vocals, which are out of this world. i follow adam everyday on the news and have his cd playing LOUDLY in my car (especially Fever), but the ama performance really was bad! he does need to concentrate on his vocals and he knows that, too! he even said he sang badly because there was just too much stuff going on up on stage (sound system, too). can't wait to see him on The View.
There may be a minority percentage of Idol fans that were offended by Adam's performance, but most of his real fans have followed his career on Youtube and were not shocked by the AMAs. Adam left AI in the dust on the night of the finale and it is history for this young man. Adam is so much more talented than anything Idol has ever seen and has become the "glam god" and a star in the making. He is that talented!!
what I know it will be a good interview, adam is honest and very intelligent and of course this lady hasselbeck, found new enemies, Adam's fans.
I hope someone points out to Hasselback and Shepherd that they should be just as offended by Jackson's crotch grab, Carrie's hoochie mama dancers, Rihanna's torture porn vid, and especially Eminem's glorification of rape. If they aren't as offended by any of those sexual performances, then they cannot defend their "righteous" disgust as anything other than homophobic.

Adam has maintained that "sexy is sexy" regardless of sexual orientation; if straight men wonder why so many women of all ages are over the top for Lambert, they need to tune in to his performances, interviews and simply listen to his glorious voice that can sing anything.

Apparently those two women have NEVER experienced an ADRENALINE RUSH!!! A lot of people do a lot of things 'in the "HEAT" of the moment'. CEO's, military leaders, even some 'laid back' parents ... ADAM is no different ... the previous performances that night (most of them) were 'sexually' charged ... I'm not going to name them ... we all know who they were. If it was okay for all of them to be 'bumping & grinding' like the burlesque shows of old with the off-color lyrics from the rappers WHY should ADAM be singled out for his performance? After having 'fallen' I'm sure he must have felt foolish. But being the showman that he was he was able to recover and 'finish' the song ... and he did a GOOD JOB!!! IMO
Adam will charm every one of those ladies, including Hasselbeck. I guarantee that she will be reduced to a mushy pile of giggly fangirl jello by the end of the show. Adam has that effect on people, men and women. I have yet to see anyone interview him that doesn't seem all giggly and fangirly by the end of the interview. Boy, I hope Elisabeth can keep her pants on. I've seen Adam IN PERSON and seen him perform LIVE in concert, and he is absolutely mesmerizing. He has some pheromone level that cannot be resisted and I have to say, he's amazingly gorgeous (and his voice is INCREDIBLE) LIVE and IN PERSON. What an amazing guy. Really. He has this aura about him that I've never experienced before. Watch out ladies of the View -- You are in for a real treat!!!

I too disagree with Ms. Shepard. Adam did not betray his fans. Anyone who actually LISTENED Adam (his words not just his singing) knew to expect shock. The only fans who were disappointed were the ones who saw Adam as a choirboy, which Adam never claimed to be. To Angrydemdude: since when is the performance of ONE SONG a concert? Eminem has performed at many awards shows and IMO has been extremely offensive. Perhaps you can explain to children why it is acceptable to brag about raping 17 women? If you condone rapping to children about the CRIMINAL ACTS of rape and murder, then perhaps you are the one who is in serious need of help.
I'd watch Adam Lambert on ANYTHING, he is the most incredible person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting(talked to him at an American Idol meet and greet). His voice is unbelievable and he is totally hot!

I'd watch Adam on anything and the idea that he would lose American Idol fans because of his AMA performance is crazy, if anything we love him more. Adam is a wonderful human being with a fantastic personality. His voice is beautiful and he is a pleasure to listen to. I can't wait to see him on The View. I remember his performance on AMA and what song he sang. I agree it was not his best vocal performance, he can do sooo much better but has since been on the Early Show, David Letterman and Ellen he has not only shown he can indeed sing but that he is one of the best singers in the business. Adam is smart and articulate and I am sure he will make a great impression on "all" of the ladies.

I kind of have to agree with Bogie! Of course, Elizabeth could have been more nice about it, as she did say it in a very agressive manner. But she is not totally wrong. If Adam does continue to do this, he will be remembered simply as a controversial celebrity instead of for his stellar vocals and showmanship. I hope that he has learned his lesson, because it would be a shame if he were not acknowledged for his amazing talent. Is there a double standard? Yes, there is. But Adam's job is not to prove a point in the music industry, it is to simply sing and blow our minds with his amazing voice. Seriously hasselbeck? Did she even watch one show of AI? Anyone with any hormones who watched AI knew that Adam Lambert oozes with sex-appeal. Heck half the time he was performing on AI they had to shoot the camera angles from the waist and sometimes even mid-chest up. I guess she didn't go see him in concert where he did a little dance...made a little love...and got down and flirty on stage. He did some really great moves on that stage. Yes, after the show (tour) the others, except Kris, came out and were still 'performing' as they went along, signing autographs.Kris seemed nice.Adam came out and he was so calm, his 'energy' felt so good, so gentle and smooth. I'm a huge Adam Lambert fan and I loved every bit of his performance at the AMA's. He certainly did not betray me...we were warned that his performance was going to be 'raunchy' etc. I had no problem with his singing (the sound system was a bit 'off')and I had no problem with him kissing another bloke

I think that Adam has toned it down some since the AMA performance and centered on his talent to sing beautifully. All of the performances since then have been stellar! Remember, he has PR people, choreographers, etc. telling him to become that persona on AMA, and people were going wild for that sexiness on the tour, so they thought that was what people wanted. Also, I think that he was nervous against such talented people in his first performance on AMA...He needs to leave lady GAGA alone and go in his own direction looking handsome and singing perfectly. That is not the image (male lady gaga) that he needs. Everyone needs to move on and look towards the future as he is a very talented young man. Good luck Adam!

So,its Ok for daytime Soaps and nitetime Reality shows to air strong sexual contents and parade women around in barely nothing.I think most kids are watching these types of shows daily and have been exposed to a lot more sexual content than Adams performance brought at almost 11:00 at nite. Most children tune in to MTV videos,some are more like soft porn! I have watched over 20 of Adams performances and depending on the lyrics he brings a different kind of Passion to every song.For Elizabeth to think he will always display the same style of his AMA performance in every show he does really tells me how ignorant she is!
ABC is acting ridiculous. They think they are punishing Adam but it's his fans who are the losers. I didn't like his performance but I still love Adam and his beautiful voice. Everyone deserves a second chance so get over it ABC. What a bunch of prudes!

I will not be happy until Adam is allowed to perform LIVE on ABC, not this pre-recorded nonsence. I think all of fans need to get in touch with Saturday Night Live and get him to be able to host and do the music for them. I know they are NBC. I think he could really proove himself on that show.
