American Idol alum Adam Lambert will perform with Queen at The Forum in Inglewood on Thursday, July 3rd. The concert is part of the “Queen + Adam Lambert” North American tour that kicks off in Chicago on June 19th and goes throughout the summer.
This marks Lambert’s first tour after parting ways with RCA (his former label) over creative differences last year. But, Lambert hasn’t slowed down since his decision to leave. He’s been writing and recording new music to be released later this year, in addition to guest starring on "Glee" alongside Chris Colfer and Lea Michele.
Lambert and Queen’s musical journey started on the American Idol stage in 2009 when they performed Queen’s classic “We Are the Champions.” They joined forces again to perform a medley of Queen hits in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards. The idea for the joint tour came about at the iHeart Radio music festival in Vegas this past September, where their performance received high praise from both critics and fans. According to The Hollywood Reporter it was, “the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics”.
Lambert’s been very vocal about Queen’s influence on him as an artist, stating in a press release that, “the thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal…I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.”
Tickets for the tour go on sale March 14th on livenation.com and range from $39.50 - $149.50.
