Adam Lambert has once again shown what a kind hearted person he is by calling a sick child who is a huge fan. The Bert Show has just published a story describing how Adam took time from his busy touring schedule to bring joy to a very sick child hospitalized in Atlanta last February.
“Bert’s Big Adventure” is a non-profit organization that takes children with chronic and terminal illnesses to Disneyworld on a VIP trip once a year. This year, for the first time, one child was too sick to make the trip. Jesse Kimsey, a child selected for the 2011 Bert’s Big Adventure Trip, was hospitalized and therefore too sick to go to Disneyworld. Jesse has Muscular Dystrophy and came down with an extreme case of pneumonia, having to be life-flighted to the hospital just before the trip.
Still intent on giving Jesse the VIP treatment, Bert went to visit her in the hospital. While there, he saw that her whole hospital room was covered with posters and paraphernalia of Adam Lambert. As Bert said,
“This girl LOVES Adam Lambert! When she went in for her last surgery she had a pocket full of Adam Lambert pictures.”
In fact, Jesse and her sister even sang an Adam Lambert song at the Bert Show orientation. (To see her signing Adam’s hit song If I Had You at the orientation, click on the video to the left of this article.) Bert wanted to do even more for Jesse, so he made a few calls to ask Adam Lambert to call Jesse and leave a voice message. At the time, Adam was in the middle of his Glam Nation tour in Europe. But he took the time after the show to leave a message for Jesse:
“Hey there Jesse. This is Adam Lambert and I just wanted to say hello and you’re doing a great job and I’m proud of you. You stay strong, keep fighting, you’re doing an awesome job, really good. And I’m thinking about you. I hope you have a rally beautiful day, and be bright, stay positive.”
According to Bert, when he played the message on his laptop while visiting Jesse, she had a profound reaction:
“I start playing the voicemail and her heart rate goes from 90 to 130. She’s in there and she’s responding and she knows what’s going on…Her eyes start fluttering. She starts breathing a little heavier. Her eyes open…then close again. She was responding to what she heard there.”
Bert couldn’t praise Adam enough for making the call:
“Here he is, in Sweden, after a show. It’s probably 3 in the morning. He’s exhausted. And he’s leaving a message for a little girl in an Atlanta hospital room that he’s never even met before.”
Adam’s fans already know what a sweetheart he is and this is just another example of his altruistic spirit. Adam has also been making news lately for his charitable efforts to bring water to people in Africa. His charity: water birthday campaign has already raised over $103,000, on the way to achieving a $290,000 birthday goal.

OMG, I love Adam Lambert more and more every day!
Sometimes I think... there is such a man with that level of compassion...... it seems unreal, but wow. I love him even more. He has taught me so much....I'm still gaping at this. Wow If I was that girl, maybe I would've died of cardiac arrest instead... oh well at least I would die in bliss.
ADAM is a genuine star with a real caring heart. I'm so happy to hear that the child responded to ADAM's voice ... who wouldn't ... it's a once in a lifetime moment to know that ADAM cares about YOU personally ... who wouldn't respond to this beautiful man with the GOLDEN heart!!
I would like to know if anyone nows what the status of Jesse is today?
She had an MRI this afternoon to try to determine whether there has been any damage to her brain from oxygen deprivation. We won't have the results until tomorrow morning.
What a sweetheart Adam is.
Adam is such a genuine, caring and kind individual. Not only is he a one of a kind mega talented man but a real "mensch". Love you, Adam and sending positive, healing thoughts to Jesse! What a surprise to hear Adam's voice speaking to you!!!! You deserve this wonderful surprise!
A real "mensch" is so true. Had to google meaning, but it truly describes Adam. Following Adam makes one more knowledgeable everyday.
I've got tears. The program is wonderful and the person who saw the girl's passion and pursued it is great as well. It really took so little from Adam to do so much!
It was a wonderful thing for Bert Weiss and Adam Lambert to do. It may seem such a simple thing, but for us, Jessi's family, Adam's call to his littlest biggest fan was a great gift. Since Jessica's heart and breathing stopped on January 14th, we have been watching for signs that our Jessi is still inside that little body.
Jessi's Opa
Such a lovely thing to do, both Adam and Bert, I hope she's getting better.
This man (Adam) faces hatred everyday and all he does is love!! He utterly exudes it from every pore in his gorgeous body & heart! Wish haters would learn!! I hope and pray Jesse will be ok!!
There was a TV movie several years ago about Elvis Presley and a sick little girl he sent cards and gifts to, don't remember the name of it. That was very sweet of Adam, but he couldn't possibly be as exhausted as that child.
Such a heartwarming article to read. Jessi's Opa..my heart goes out to you, Jessi and family. I lost my daughter to cancer when she was 7 and it was the kind people we knew and Childrens Wish, that really helped brighten Katie's days.
I know how it must have felt for you to see Jessi's eyes open when she heard Adam's message to her.
Jessi please stay strong so we can hear you sing again.
Adam thank you for making a dream come true for a little girl. You seem to radiate love. That is what I first noticed in you.
Whoa, Renee, this is so moving, gave me chills. There is another fan who has said she wouldn't be alive today as she wrote her comment if it had not been for Adam. These are really poignant instances. My thoughts to Jesse and her family. Adam is healing and energising. I have written this so many times: his Voice touches minds, hearts and souls. The name of the show, Bert seems so coincidentally appropriate.
THAT DOESN'T SURPRISE ME A BIT. THAT IS WHY I LOVE HIM.
OPA... I sure hope that Jessi will make a recovery. Shes a brave girl and obviously has a very loving family. Is there somewhere that us Glambert's or anyone who wants to wish her well can send letters, pictures, videos.? I have no doubt that the Glambert's, being the most awesome and generous soles, will want to send all the love and light and positivity to Jessi and her family.
I heard on the Bert Show this morning that Jesse had passed away... :( I send prayers to the family, and thank you to Adam Lambert for sending such a positive message to this little girl! I couldn't imagine what this family is going through at this time and I hope God can give them the strength to get through this....
