Adam Lambert is the latest celebrity to get a tattoo that isn't quite right. The "American Idol" success story recently got ink that reads, "Musica Delenit Bestiam Feram." It means "Music soothes the savage beast," which is a popular quote, right? Wrong. It's actually a popular misquote, and as Daily Mail reported, the new tattoo is not something that he can change as easily as he changes his hair color. Lambert got the new ink while visiting the country of Japan. It is his fifth tattoo.
The real quote is from "The Mourning Bride," Act i. Sc. 1. by William Congreve, who wrote, "Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast, To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak." Unfortunately, Congreve's words have frequently been misquoted as "Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast," instead of "breast." Adam Lambert now has a paraphrase of this misquote permanently inked on his forearm.
