The fan charity contest started by Adam Lambert has raised over $160,000 dollars for Donorschoose.org so far, and fans have until September 20th to become the Fan Group that raises the most funds and wins an exclusive online chat session with the American Idol runner up.
Everything started with Adam Lambert's invitation to fans to donate to the charity instead of buying presents for him. Donorschoose.org allows donors to send the funds to the whole group, or support a classroom project of their choice. Besides the chance to chat with their favorite star online and post the transcript on their fan site, the 10 most generous donors will receive signed photos by Lambert.
With over $160,000 dollars raised and 62,290 students reached, Adam Lambert's idea proved to be an incredibly good one, because Lambert fan groups' competitiveness prompted them to try to be the ones who raised the most funds. The winners, then, turned out to be the children in the school projects specified by teachers at Donorschoose.org.
As this site has said before, there is surely a lot of good karma heading Adam Lambert's way, which should give him good hopes for the results of his upcoming debut album, due out on November 24th.

As a member of on of those fan groups, "ontd_ai" (we're currently in the lead. *yay*) my wallet doesn't love Adam, but my heart sure does. His asking for donations to donorschoose in lieu of fan gifts was a beautiful gesture. The man is just a phenomenal human being in every possible way.
