UPDATE: Lambert has spoken out now about the AMA's editing his performance for the West Coast feeds, calling it "censorship."
Some real "Holy %$#!" moments from last night's American Music Awards, with Jennifer Lopez's fall from a human staircase among them
However, the biggest performance of the night seems to be the closer, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and his new song "For Your Entertainment."
The heavily-choreographed number reminded me of something you'd see from Prince in the "Gett Off" days, with the stage littered with dancers clad in various S&M meets Thunderdome apparel.
See for yourself here. If you're more interested in the controversy than the song, at 1:00, he grinds the dancer's head against his crotch. At 1:40 he takes a roll across the stage, clearly showing he's not lip-synching.
Then, at the 3:25 mark, he makes the kiss that's got people talking, as he grabs a hard smooch from his keyboard player.
UPDATE: Dick Clark's lawyers are working overtime knocking down the YouTube clips of the song, here's another one. Watch while you still can.
To begin with, is there anyone who doesn't know Adam Lambert is gay? A stunning revelation this ain't, he's pretty open about it. After the show, he said it wasn't planned and it was all in the heat of the moment, but the fact it happened after he sang the lyric "Can you handle what I'm 'bout to do?" may cast some doubt on that.
In the grander sense though, was this the performance Adam Lambert fans have been waiting for since the end of American Idol?
I don't think so.
Feel free to disagree with me here, but I just don't think much of this song. It came across as a song that was just a simple track for Lambert to wail over. There was no emotional depth there, but the track didn't really feel like a good senseless party song, either.
I'm still looking forward to the album, but even without the controversy, I don't think this was Lambert's best. Your opinions welcome, as always.

Thanks for the video. I didn't see the show.
I think he did exactly what he wanted to do - get some free publicity. His fans know he's pretty raunchy. I don't think he lost any fans and probably gained a few.
I liked the song. He didn't sing it well live (until after the 3 minute mark) but I'm guessing it sounds great on his album.
this song sucks %$#*
this is a horrible song, terrible songwriting here folks, worst of the worst
