Adam Lambert picked up the Teen Choice Award for “Choice Male Reality/TV Show Star.” Lambert sent out a Twitter message this afternoon thanking fans which stated, “Wow!!! Thanks to all who voted for the Teen Choice Awards! I'm honored to win "Choice Male Reality/Variety TV Show Star" thank you so much.” “Unfortunately I won't be able to pick up my award. I am in New York on tour with Idols Live.”

Lambert was not able to pick up his award due to the “American Idol” tour, at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ last night were he apparently upset fans after the show by staying inside the venue and visiting with family and friends instead of signing autographs. Adam sent out a Twitter message after the show stating, “I feel bad but please understand that I try to give you guys 110% on stage. Your ticket is to see us perform! Entitlement is not sexy...”
Lambert was seemingly receiving additional negative reactions from fans which prompted him to make the followingstatement via Twitter to the distraught fans, “Thanks to those of you who "get it" You guys are so rad. The messages were really thoughtful. A few of you need to quit being so negative.”

I think Adam is right. People who are so negative make me mad! Adam does not owe you anything. He is there to put on a show. Yes, it's nice when he comes out and signs autographs, but if he doesn't, that's his right and we have to respect it. I understand people's dissapointment, but sending negative messages to Adam is just disgusting. Practically every night, he is out there singing his butt off and entertaining the masses. Please show some respect. He is just a human being; he needs his rest just like everyone else and he also needs to spend time with friends and fanily from time to time. People seem to forget that Adam doesnt BELONG to them.
Good to see you're still the same dimwitted writer you were in this morning's hard hitting news story on Examiner! What does winning the Teen Choice Award have to do with the Twitter incident last night? I'll hazzard a guess and say, NOTHING. Why not put the blame for last night's showdown on the ignorant, self-righteous imbeciles who caused the mini online riot last night by thinking they had a right to Lambert's time above and beyond giving them an amazing concert? Maybe these same crack-heads will want to have his child next. What a diva for denying them!
How immature these fans must be! I have never thought that buying a ticket to a great show entitled me to an autograph. Grow up kiddies! Adam is spot on with this tweet entitlement is not sexy! What a sense of humor this guy has! Great put down in the sweetest way possible. I love this guy's way of handling it. Family and personal friends backstage trumps fans outside any day.
Adam is a human been just like us.. I think is not ok that we (his fans) act like that and send him some negative tweets or whatever because he´s trying to keep his relation ships with people hi loves.
It is too bad that the AI fans were rude. Most recording artist never come out and give autographs after a concert! Maybe the AI people need to re-think this tradition. After a long tour, I can understand going outside to be mobbed would get old fast.

Congratulations Adam! Your true fans do get it . We get how talented and gracious you are to all of your fans. We love you because you are so honest. You tweeted the truth, and I respect that. How dare anyone complain when you work so hard to put on an outstanding performance. I can't wait until your concert in Michigan.
I wonder is the meet and greet is considered part of the idol summer tour and if so, what is required from each idol. I was surprised to hear before the tour started that there would be a meet and greet before and after each concert. I have read that fans hang around for 90 to 120 minutes after the show before the idols actually come out. If each idol is contracted to attend so many meet and greets, Adam should be out there, especially since most of the fans are there to see him......the same fans that stayed up hitting redial for hours every week (and usually only to get constant busy signals). He should heed the advice Jamie Fox gave him....take the time for your fans, take the pictures. I saw so many disappointed fans in Atlantic City because he didn't come out there either. Kris was up since 5 in the morning also, but he came out.
Come on people how long is it since he's seen his family and friends and on such a tight schedule have a little consideration, why is everyone expecting so much of him, let him breath for a while, he'searned it.
He is a human being who deserves time with his family and friends just as you or I would want. He is an awesome entertainer, we saw him in Arizona and will continue to show him our support by enjoying his music and attending his solo concerts. I have attended many concerts over the years, and have NEVER felt the artist owed me anything more than the entertainment and joy I received during the concert. One comment above mentioned he owed it to his fans for their voting, he is returning his love now to all of you with his music and entertainment on the stage. It is obvious he appreciates his fans, if you listen to him you will hear the love he gives each of you during each performance. Kris Allen was used as an example that he always comes out to sign, he is the American Idol and maybe he is the one that should be there everynight. That being said, he is only human and no one is entitled to suck the life out of any of these great young entertainers!!!!
Fans are not entitled to an autograph. And Adam, along with every other celebrity on the planet deserve to have a little bit of down time, it doesn't mean that they are not grateful to their fans. I LOVE YOU, ADAM!! YOU ROCK!!
I understand friends and family are important, but I think they would understand a 20 minute meet and greet. But then again, he also said it was raining. I can appreciate Adam's honesty, but as long as everyone else is doing this, he needs to follow suit and stop making excuses. From what I hear, he never goes out before the show and seldom goes out after. And by the way, I do "get it". I get that it is the fans that are going to make Adam a multi-millionaire. I get that sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do just because it's the right thing to do. I am an Adam fan, but sorry cannot defend this attitude so early in his career.
From what I have read Adam spends more time than any of the others signing autographs and meeting with fans. Mostly because he has the most fans. I saw his Baltimore performance, which showcased his stunning talent as a baladeer and as a rocker. He was nothing but gracious in all of his onstage comments, and met with fans before and after. The tour schedule is tough and they rarely get to see family. Part of keeping a balance and not losing your head is to stay focused on family and friends and being a real person. Thank God he is not too big a star to give his family his undivided attention when they come to his show. Give him a break. He has more to juggle than all of the others because he has more fans and they are more intense. You can never please everyone. But he consistently tries to do that. Really, give him a break.

I hope he could keep his conditions more than short time meetings with some fans.But only one sentence I felt something else."Plus rain! :(" Honestly,I think he sholdnt have written only this one, if or if not hes so honest.That wasnt a logical reason.

It's unfortunate that we live in a society where people have to focus on the negative instead of the positive (especially the media).
Meet and Greets at the barricades should NOT be considered obligatory....for Adam, or any other performer. Security is not great, and they put themselves at risk.
To go to a concert and EXPECT it is wrong....and I agree with Adam. Set your boundaries, Adam....despite the song title, there ARE boundaries.
Fans of Adam were not upset. Non-fans of Adam, however, were upset. They started all this nonsense. No true Adam fan would be upset.

It seems that some fans are sending messages to Adam about buying tickets but Adam did not sign autographs. Oh people, what kind of fans are you? You should feel pity on him because he's so tired, of giving 110% performance. If you love him, give some rest. He's exhausted of bringing the tour alone.
I don't believe those negative messages were coming from Adams fans. Those are haters who are trying to ruin Adam's patience.
Nuts are just as likely to join fan clubs as anyone else. It was a fan of John Lennons who shot him. Tonight's incident at the concert is just the thing which could ignite some unstable fan who felt dissed by Adam to do violence against him. There has been some truly ugly behavior by Adam's fans. There was a video of an Adam 'fan club' member posted in which she waylays Adam at his hotel, plays the fan club card(oooh, Adam, I brought you a gift, I'm in your club, please let me have a picture to take back to my club members of me slobbering all over you) and ends up hanging all over him while he tries nicely to extricate himself. It was embarrassing to watch, yet she was giddily bragging to her club members about how she got these hugs from Adam, and plotting how she'd get to him at his next concert. Ugh
The reason I'm going on about this is that everyone who says they are a fan needs to take a serious look at their behavior. Dignity, respect, compassion are very sexy.
More worthless blogs. It was STORMING and ALL THE OTHER IDOLS RAN INSIDE before Adam would even had been out there since he comes out LAST. Because the tour has him doing meet and greets inside also. Blogger try doing some REAL investigation stop going the lazy route reading freaking twitters.
You know, first and foremost, Adam Lambert is a human being. He needs sleep, food, and family just like you and I. When he gets sick, he feels the same way you do. When he is exhausted, he feels the same way you do. When he is on a bus away from family and friends, he feels the same way you would. Yes, he is fortunate to be where he is right now, but that still does not make him any less human. Energy is our life source and when we are depleted of our life source, whether we are a dishwasher or a rock star, we simply can't function properly. BTW, I used to work at the major concert venues in Chicago and I never once saw a performer come out to sign autographs... Give the guy a break!!!!
Honestly, can this guy get any better?!? In addition to all the other wonderful things about him , he has the b***s to call out some of his "negative" fans who deserve it, whether he loses them as fans or not. If and when he has time to spend extra time signing autographs, that's an added bonus ~ It should NOT be a given. Adam's real fans do not get mad when he does not feel well or has other plans after the concert. Why should they? The hours they have to put in are ungodly. They are sleep deprived and fed junk food. There is no doubt Adam cares about his fans, he has fun with them on stage and gives them a great performance. No one is entitled to anything else.

Voting for him doesn't mean you own the guy. He has more demands on him than any other AI including Kris , and he is clearly exhausted. Pretend he's your brother or your son and not just an object for your ownership. Give him the respect he deserves.

It's okay to be disappointed about not being able to meet him, but these so called fans are being selfish and not thinking about Adam. True fans would understand how tired he is, and that the Idols choose to sign autographs. It's not part of the show.
I absolutely support Adam. He shows class in all he does, and his restraint in the face of this kind of provocation is admirable. He only gets better and better.

I'm glad to see all of the comments here supporting Adam. It's a shame some people have to always be ignorant, demanding, and just mean towards Adam. Adam has always been giving of himself, he's AMAZING on stage, and that IS what your ticket paid for - the performance of all the Idols. He comes out when he can, but can you imagine how YOU would feel doing what he does day after day? Even ONE night of his set, the awful screams in his face and ears are torturous, he has to wear earplugs when he does sign. It's a shame that everything Adam does seems to be in the media, whereas if other Idols don't come out, nobody gets upset about that, now do they? I also agree that the ones tweeting they were upset are NOT truly Adam's fans. Adam is going to be ICONIC.

I totally agree with Adam's choice. They are getting worn out and tired and need a break once in a while. The ticket purchase is for the concert!! Adam is totally gracious and gives his best and to expect him to be available after every concert at this pace is just insane!! Let the boy take care of himself and stop being leeches. I heard there were some threats going on,some Anti-Adam-movements and some scary situations with dangerous fans for him an the Meet-and-greets after the concert.

being a fan does not give you any entitlement, you don't own him for God sake, plus the fact he has a stalker, plus the fact that he recieved threatening twitters, would you place yourself in potential danger? I have never been to a concert where the price of a ticket has a meet and greet, besides, Adam is so popular has so many fans, plus some nut jobs of course he won't be out. If others go out, they have not had the same threats as Adam so get real and grow the hell up.

He needs his own time, that night he was with his parents and friends, he gives us 500% on stage, the sign of autographes is a gift to us, but isn't his obligation. I was fortunate enough to be in Dallas and get his autograph face to face. It would have been disappointing, but not make me mad or upset not to see him out.
He gives much more than he needs to and I am glad he is mature enough to know when to say no, I can't. We do not own him. He gives us his beautiful music to listen to and we get to see him on videos.
These are not his fans saying this. AND, I and the other Glamberts I know would never say anything like that.
