Adam Lambert gets lukewarm support from 'American Idol' judge

Adam Lambert has a plethora of fans, and all you need to do for proof of that is check out the 300,000+ that are currently following him on Twitter. However, how many of these people are going to admit to just liking his debut album rather than loving it. Apparently, Randy Jackson is unafraid of speaking his mind.

The "American Idol" judge recently told MTV News that in terms of past contestants, "There's been some great boys. I don't think the boys have all made great records though." As for the contestants he was referring to? He named Adam and Kris Allen to be specific.

The irony in all of this is that earlier this month, Randy said in a conference call I was a part of that "Kris obviously won for a reason." If that is the case, then why doesn't his new statement about their albums reflect that?

Randy Jackson has obviously seen a great number of talented singers pass through "Idol," and after this season he will be the only original judge left at the panel. However, do his comments about Adam Lambert cause you to be a little more skeptical of his opinion? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and I (as always) will have more on Adam Lambert is it becomes available.

Why am I not surprised? Once again Randy Jackson panders to his employer... they have just started another "American Idol" season with abunch of new "idols" they´re promoting.
Jackson sang Lambert's and Allen's praises as long as they were on the show and I'm sure very soon he'll be required to moon over one of this season's contestants.
This has nothing to do with "expertise", he's selling a product. And for "American Idol" to attract viewers there have to be contestants who are at least a little bit talented and exciting.
They gladly used Adam Lambert's instant fame and the media attention that came with it for ratings but now that "American Idol" is back to being a glorified karaoke show they want Lambert to vanish because his intimidating talent makes the new "idols" look very mediocre and bland in comparison.

Anonymus you are right on! Randy contridicts himself. He says you can't be Lady Gaga one minute and Justin Hawkins the next (refering to Adam) but yet he says Adam was the best idol contestant ever, and now he just likes him??!!!!! I'm sorry but I disagree!!! Adam CAN sing ANYTHING! He can be WHATEVER he wants WHENEVER he wants, and it IS what we want. We just want MORE Adam. Adam isn't confusing us. Randy is the one who is confused! DAWG!

Don't think they want Adam to disappear. It's still all 19 Entertainment, or whatever the parent co name is. They want their $ off Adam now more than ever. I think its Randy now wondering if he'll have a job next year after Simon leaves. He has to force attention to the newbies. The show will be on its last legs if another talented performer doesn't show up. I can't even tell you half the names of people who have won, and I watch the show.

I think Randy Jackson thinks Adams music should be just one kind like all rock. Its all about the money. It would be sad if all the rest of us who love his voice have to listen to just rock. On youtube Adam sings "Come Home" with all his heart and soul. To me that is Adam. He cried and I cried it was that moving. Also on youtube is " I cant make you love me". I would buy that in a heartbeat. I think his amazing voice is better without backup singers, synthesizers etc. I hope that I am not in the minority.

I don't understand why Randy, who supported Adam throughout the entire show, is now saying that "Kris obviously won for a reason." YES- He won because his entire home state had voting parties! Because many people were turned off by Adam Lambert's homosexuality! I don't think that either of the above are good enough reasons for Kris to win. I am happy for Kris, but as the article says, Adam has sold many more albums. There is a reason that Simon Cowell, much more influential than Randy, did not stand up when Kris won Idol. Did anyone else see that? But the real issue is not my opinion, but Randy's support of both Adam and Kris. Randy is now just going to give his support to the new "Idols," which I think is pathetic. Is his opinion really genuine- or is he just trying to sell these people to the public? American Idol is about the people, not the profit. Unless your name is Randy Jackson, apparently.
