Adam Lambert attendance confirmed for VH1 ‘2011 Do Something Awards’

Last night it was confirmed that Adam Lambert will be attending the 2011 Do Something Awards ceremony to be televised on VH1. DoSomething.org let the cat out of the bag when they tweeted:

“Hmm. Looks like it leaked already, so we'll confirm it here. Yes! @adamlambert is gonna be at the @vh1 #dsawards airing aug 18th!”

Based on their next tweet, there is also reason to believe that Adam might be a final nominee for an award based on fan votes:

“And to be clear: those lambert fans rock. We're totally listening/watching fan noise/votes, guys. #FansMatter”

According to their website, DoSomething.org is:

“One of the largest organizations in the U.S. that helps young people rock causes they care about. A driving force in creating a culture of volunteerism, DoSomething.org is on track to activate two million young people in 2011. By leveraging the web, television, mobile, and pop culture, DoSomething.org inspires, empowers and celebrates a generation of doers: young people (25 and under) who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.”

DoSomething.org and VH1 have partnered to present The Do Something Awards to honor young people's commitment to social change.  Five final nominees and grant recipients were announced on May 23.  The public was asked to vote to select a grand prize winner which will receive a $100,000 grant for his or her cause during the live VH1 broadcast of the ceremony.  In addition to the signature award, the show will honor celebrities with ‘Do Something Awards’ categories including:

  • Athlete

  • Movie Star: Female
  • Comedian

Adam Lambert’s fans voted to nominate him for the “Style,” “Music Artist,” “Concert Event,” and “Twitter” categories, as well as “Charity Song” for his Aftermath remix, in which a portion of the proceeds went towards The Trevor Project. Nomination voting is closed and final nominees will be announced on July 11. Therefore, fans have a couple of weeks until they will know until if their persistent voting has paid off.  Once the nominees have been announced on July 11, voting will open as well.

The Do Something Awards will be taped at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and premiere on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at 9/8c on VH1. Remember to check if Adam made the final nominee list for any categories and if so, to start voting for him on July 11. The final nominee list and voting will available be at this link.
