That Jackie Peyton is one lucky gal.
The always hilarious, permanently awesome Adam Ferrara is now a series regular in Season 6 of Nurse Jackie, which kicks off tonight at 9 PM ET/PT on Showtime. He was recurring last season as NYPD officer Frank Verelli, who was determined to romance Jackie (award-winner Edie Falco).
In the new season, Frank and Jackie are still together - but Frank has no idea that Jackie has fallen off the wagon and is once again dealing with her addiction.
Adam is currently hard at work shooting new episodes of Top Gear for History, alongside co-hosts Rutledge Wood and Tanner Foust. Last year's fourth season saw Adam sink a homemade amphibious vehicle in Lake Ontario and injure his shoulder while testing out some of America's toughest trucks.
"There are so many [memories], and nearly every one of them involves us laughing like idiots or almost dying," he quipped during our Season 4 finale chat in November.
His other acting credits include two TV series with Denis Leary - first playing NYPD detective Tommy Manetti in the ABC comedy The Job, and then taking on the role of Chief William "Needles" Nelson for seasons 3-7 of the critically acclaimed FX-comedy drama Rescue Me.
He was seen as Sergeant Howard in the Kevin James film Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and had a cameo as a vice cop in the pilot episode of ABC's The Unusuals. If you're sensing a theme here, maybe it's because he's so damn good at it.
Aside from acting and hosting Top Gear, Adam is still the best stand-up comic working today. Whenever he's not pretending to romance nurses or doing something with a vehicle that it was not designed to do, he's touring around the country making people laugh.
In May, he'll be playing select dates at the Chicago Improv, before heading to the Tempe Improv in June. You can find all his upcoming stops on his Facebook site. His stand-up DVD, Funny As Hell, is also available through Amazon.
The sixth season of Nurse Jackie starts tonight at 9 PM ET/PT on Showtime. Top Gear will return to History at a later date. For more on Adam, be sure to visit his official Facebook page (facebook.com/AdamFerrara) and follow him on Twitter (@adamferrara).
