Adam Carolla appears to be slipping into the giant, gaping hole left by Bubba the Love Sponge on Howard Stern's secondary Sirius XM channel Howard 101.

Adam Carolla dropped the bombshell during his January 21st podcast of The Adam Carolla Show.
"We are going to be doing a little experiment with Sirius XM and Howard Stern and the Howard Stern network over at Sirius XM--about simulcasting this show on the Sirius XM Howard Stern network while we’re doing it."

Carolla said the "experiment' will kick off on Monday, January 24th, with some modifications to his current podcast format.
UPDATE 1/23/11: The first Sirius XM Adam Carolla Simulcast has been delayed until Monday 1/31/11 "due to technical reasons.
"The podcast will be expanded from about 90 minutes to 2 hours," explained Carolla. "There’s going to have to be a couple of breaks in there for commercials that they require on their end. So you’ll get an extra half hour of content with an extra few minutes for commercials. So, we’ll figure that out, but we are going to be doing a full blown show and it’s going to be simulcast and much more than that I don’t know."

The Bubba the Love Sponge Show ran for four hours weekdays on Howard 101. It's unclear at this point how Howard 101 will fill the additional two hours.

Carolla sought to reassure podcast fans who might worry they'll have to subscribe to Sirius XM to get the content they've been getting for free.
"The podcast is not going to go away. It’s not in jeopardy of going away. It’s essentially taking the podcast and putting it on this platform. That would be something close to awesome if that works out...I think it’d be a good fit."

Howard Stern's Sirius XM Channel 101 has been stuck airing HSS clip shows since the new year after failing to negotiate a new contract with Bubba the Love Sponge. Bubba the Love Sponge told fans he was offered a "take it or leave it" contract featuring an 80% pay cut. The Tampa based broadcaster has now taken his show to internet radio outlet RadioIo.com

Sirius thinks this is going to replace Bubba!!! I thought Mel was smarter then this.
I rarely listen to Bubba mostly when Howard was on vacation and enjoyed it.
I have listened to Adams' podcast during vacation times as well and it is just OK.

Great news! About time they have a show that is not edited down for kids and Florida residents.
Considering that you can currently get this podcast for free, I'd say it fits right into the current Sirius plan for its subscribers. Don't add any value, ride out the Howard wave and don't plan for the future when Howard retires. Drag out contract talks until subscribers hit their auto-renew. Cut the Stern show by an hour. I'd bet they cut another day off the week before Easter... RadioIO.com is looking better and better...

I can't wait for carolla. I tried to follow bubba over to radioio but it sucked so bad I gave up. It cuts out all the time and the other programming isn't that good. The Sirius app is alot more stable.

This is a typical Scott Greenstein move. Hire a hollywood type with zero radio talent and screw over the real talent (bubba). WE WANT BUBBA! Why doesn't sirius understand this?
The Ace and the King together at last. Adam is the perfect fit for 101. He'll bring new listeners, he'll get great guests and he's a genius that you can rarely disagree with. He may be on the inside of Hollywood, but he's never lost the everyman viewpoint and sensibility. Oh yeah, and he's FUNNY!!!! I'm sorry if he's too intellectual for Bubba listeners but if you listen to Ace you might actually learn something. Maybe he can bring back Teresa? Hey Now! Mahalo!
Since they've been running Wasted Week after the West Coast Feed, and Howard hasn't promoted Adam Carolla on his channels, it looks like Carolla lied again, just like when he claimed he was offered the Jackie chair.
