Acworth teen charged with child cruelty, sexual exploitation of children

A Cobb County teenager was being held without bond Sunday for allegedly distributing child sexual abuse images on his company's website.

Mr. Michael William Cook, 17, was charged Wednesday with sexual exploitation of children and eight counts of first-degree cruelty to children (causing excessive physical and mental pain), according to Cobb County jail booking records.

Detectives said they found out about Mr. Cook after they began investigating distribution of child pornography and child cruelty cases Nov. 1. The investigation lasted until Jan. 1, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

During that time Mr. Cook, of Acworth, allegedly did knowingly and intentionally possess and distribute child pornography on a pornographic web site, Sgt. Pierce said.

And investigators are now asking for the assistance of the public in helping them to identify other possible victims.

Detectives believe that at the time he was allegedly committing the crimes, Mr. Cook was operating under the company name of Maxi Focus Photography.

Anyone who may have corresponded with Maxi Focus Photography is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit at (770) 801-3470.
